International Partnership Expands Emergency Medical Access in Paraguay
HERO Foundation Executive Director Jason Hersh partnered with The Fiixx Foundation to support the donation and international transport of a fully equipped ambulance to Salto del Guairá, Paraguay.
The effort expanded emergency medical capacity in a region with significant unmet needs and was formally recognized under a Sister City Agreement between Chester, Pennsylvania and Salto del Guairá, Paraguay.
“This ambulance donation represents the beginning of a broader commitment to expand emergency medical services where they are needed most,” said Hersh.
Field Rescue in Haiti: HERO Client Rescue in Action
In this firsthand account, a humanitarian worker describes a rapidly escalating security situation in North Haiti that left children and medical staff at risk and unable to safely move.
As communication challenges and instability intensified, she reached out to HERO Foundation’s HERO Client Rescue team for help.
Working through dangerous and uncertain conditions, HERO coordinated with local contacts to help ensure safe movement and accountability for those sheltering inside the hospital. The story highlights the reality responders face on the ground - where fast decisions, trusted relationships, and clear communication can make the difference in protecting lives.
This video offers an unfiltered look at the challenges in crisis zones and the role rapid-response support can play when traditional systems are overwhelmed.
Hospital Construction Update: Trauma Center in Pétion-Ville Progressing
Construction is actively progressing on HERO Foundation’s 30-bed Level 1 and Level 2 trauma hospital in Pétion-Ville, Haiti.
The facility is being developed to provide emergency and critical care services at international standards, including:
• Emergency Department
• Trauma Unit
• Adult ICU
• Maternity Ward & NICU
• Operating Rooms
• Laboratory & Pharmacy
•
On-site CT Imaging
We’re also pleased to share that the hospital’s new CT scanner is scheduled to arrive in February, marking a major milestone in expanding advanced diagnostic capabilities on site.
This project represents a significant step forward in strengthening emergency medical infrastructure and improving access to lifesaving care.

Haiti is the 16th poorest country in the world. It’s rife with crime, poverty, and corruption. However, despite all that, it’s also a place where HERO — an organization founded by Stacy Librandi Bourne and composed of veterans, EMTs, and firefighters — is doing a lot of good.
